Common questions
Scene detection finds too many cuts, or too few
Detection has a sensitivity setting. On iPhone and iPad it is in the scissors menu: Fewer cuts, Balanced or More cuts. Change it and choose Detect again — you do not need to reimport the video.
Balanced is the default because it sits in the middle of a range where the result stays stable. If your footage cuts between very similar-looking shots, More cuts will catch joins that Balanced treats as one continuous scene.
Detection is taking a long time
Time scales with the length of the video, not its resolution. A thirty-second clip takes a few seconds; several minutes of footage takes correspondingly longer. You can tap Stop at any time and mark by hand, or start detection again later from the scissors menu.
Where do my exports go?
Everything from one video goes into a single folder named after it.
- Mac — a
FramePull_<video name>folder inside the folder you chose, containingstills, gifs, videosandgrids. - iPhone and iPad, Photos — an album called
FramePull_<video name>. Photos has no folders, so stills, clips and grids sit together in the album. - iPhone and iPad, Files — the same folder layout as the Mac.
Exporting the same video again reuses the folder or album and continues the numbering, so you can come back and add more without overwriting anything.
Can I export the same clip in more than one aspect ratio?
Yes. Turn on 4:5 and 9:16 in the export settings and you get those crops alongside the original. Each still and clip carries its own reframe position, so you can decide what stays in frame rather than accepting a centre crop.
The app asks for full access to my photo library
Saving into an album requires it. Finding the album you exported into last time is a read, and without that permission every export would create a duplicate album instead of adding to the existing one. FramePull only ever reads the video you pick and writes what you export.
Does FramePull upload anything?
No. There is no network code in the app. See the privacy policy.
Reporting a bug
A screenshot or a short screen recording answers more than a description does. If an export came out wrong, keeping the exported file helps — the frame rate and dimensions often point straight at the cause.
